The City of Lawrenceville Finance Department is responsible for the billing and collection of property taxes for our City and relies solely on the Gwinnett County Board of Assessors for tax information that pertains to property owners, fair market and assessed values, and property/billing addresses. The amount of tax is determined by the tax millage rate. The tax is levied on the assessed value of the property, which is 40% of the fair market value (unless otherwise specified by law). The basis for ad valorem taxation is the fair market value of the property, as determined by the Gwinnett County Board of Assessors.
